  • begin to understand the concepts of remembrance and citizenship;
  • begin to develop attitudes about the way they think or feel about those who have served and/or have been affected by war, eg. empathy, pride, respect;
  • become active in remembrance activities at home, at school, and in the community; and
  • improve their reading, listening, and writing skills.

If you'd like to read the newspaper at home, please use this link: Tales of Animals in War

Students created a map of the journey soldiers took across Canada to get from the different provinces to the port at Halifax, Nova Scotia. Here are some of our maps:

Comprehension Through Art

Subtracting Across Zero
These are some of the ways we can solve when subtracting across zero. We must remember to identify where there is trouble and then borrow so we can solve.

If you want to practice at home, try these questions.
Comprehension Through Art
We looked at a piece of art by an Albertan.  We shared the medium, that artist was from Alberta and the title of the art.  Students discussed what they saw and then what they thought the artist was trying to share with us and why; using details or information from the art and from their experiences.
